How we metCómo nos conocimos

We grew up in different worlds: Shruti in Delhi, India, and David in Mondoñedo, Spain. We met on the very first day of our MBA at Oxford, and then never crossed paths for the next six months. That summer, we had a few classes and a project together, and became good friends.Crecimos en mundos distintos: Shruti en Delhi, India, y David en Mondoñedo, España. Nos conocimos el primer día del MBA en Oxford, y luego no volvimos a coincidir en seis meses. Ese verano coincidimos en algunas clases y en un proyecto, y nos hicimos buenos amigos.

When the MBA ended, we lived apart, David back home in Spain and Shruti in London, and a call every few months kept us close.Al terminar el MBA, vivimos lejos, David de vuelta en España y Shruti en Londres, y una llamada cada pocos meses nos mantuvo cerca.

One weekendUn fin de semana

In 2025, as Shruti thought about moving back to India, David asked if he could come and see her first, just for a weekend. We hadn’t seen each other in fifteen months.En 2025, cuando Shruti pensaba en volver a la India, David le preguntó si podía ir a verla antes, solo un fin de semana. Llevábamos quince meses sin vernos.

That weekend, talking about our dreams and plans, we realised we had always liked each other. From there, there was no looking back.Ese fin de semana, hablando de nuestros sueños y planes, nos dimos cuenta de que siempre nos habíamos gustado. Desde entonces, no hubo vuelta atrás.

Making it officialYa es oficial

In May 2026, we made it official and registered our marriage.En mayo de 2026 lo hicimos oficial y registramos nuestro matrimonio.

David now cooks rotis, and Shruti knows poquito Spanish.David ya hace rotis, y Shruti sabe un poquito de español.

In February 2027, we can’t wait to celebrate with our friends and families in Mandawa.En febrero de 2027 estamos deseando celebrarlo con nuestros amigos y nuestras familias en Mandawa.

Our shared beginningUn comienzo compartido

Our emblem comes from our roots. David grew up in Mondoñedo, where the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route walked for over a thousand years, runs right past his family’s front door. Its symbol is the vieira, a scallop shell. Shruti grew up in Delhi, where her mornings started with the sound of the shankh, a conch played by her parents during prayer. As we set out on our new journey together, the vieira and the shankh represent our shared beginning.Nuestro emblema nace de nuestras raíces. David creció en Mondoñedo, donde el Camino de Santiago, una ruta de peregrinación que se recorre desde hace más de mil años, pasa justo por delante de la puerta de su casa. El símbolo del Camino es la vieira. Shruti creció en Delhi, donde sus mañanas empezaban con el sonido del shankh, una caracola que sus padres tocan durante la oración. Ahora que emprendemos juntos un nuevo camino, la vieira y el shankh representan nuestro comienzo compartido.
